Version 2.0

The preferred browser is Chrome. If that doesn’t work for you, try Firefox. Sometimes Flash has weird compatibility issues and works well with certain games on one but not the other. Do not use Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer. There are input problems with these browsers that I can’t fix.

A Koopa's Revenge 2 Hacked All Levels

Mode

This is the most up-to-date version of A Koopa’s Revenge 2 on the web. Version 2.0 to be precise. The culmination of half a decade of on-and-off development, AKR2 (A Koopa’s Revenge 2, it’s an initialism) is my biggest project to date. There’s a bunch I would like to have done differently, some design-wise, a ton code-wise. But regardless, I’m proud of the final result. There will be one more update to the game which will include a couple new features. But after that I’m moving on and won’t be adding any new features or fixing any bugs.

A Koopa’s Revenge 2 FAQ

Click to reveal/hide FAQ
  1. Can I download the game?
Yes, you can download it on the Share Our Games Page. Though Goomba and Shyguy won’t be playable.
    .
  2. Where did you get the music/who made the music for the game?
All the original music is from the Newgrounds Audio Portal. You can find a complete list of the game’s soundtrack here, which details when the music appears in game, and who made it.
    .
  3. Can I use the game on my site.
Yes, a free to use version can be downloaded from this page.
    .
  4. MEDALS!?
Yes, there is a medals enabled version available on Newgrounds. It’s not in every version because I didn’t have time/was too lazy to build an in-game interface for it. In update 2.1 medals will be available here and everywhere else.
    .
  5. Will you add a level editor?
Unfortunately, no. The way I built the game isn’t conducive to a level editor. I’d essentially have to port the existing game over to a new engine, which I have yet to build, in order to get a workable level editor going. I’d also need to build the level editor. So with all the effort it would take, I could build an entirely new game, including a level editor. Sorry, but I’ll try to get level editors into some future games, especially AKR3.
    .
  6. Can you add simultaneous multiplayer, like in New Super Mario Bros.?
Short answer: No. The game wasn’t designed or programmed for it.
Long answer: Hell no. There are a ton of technical and design reasons. 1. The number of simultaneous keypresses that can be registered is limited, so it would require adding native controller support. And even after that only people with compatible controllers could use the mode anyway. 2. The levels aren’t designed for more than one player. Things like platforms that fall, one tile wide platforms, the maze in 5-3 and more would need to be totally reworked. 3. I haven’t done any of the coding groundwork for it, since I didn’t anticipate needing to have two players. 4. The behaviours of bosses and some enemies aren’t set up to accommodate more than one player. 5. It would lag. 6. It would likely be buggy and require months of testing. 7. It wouldn’t be as good as you’re imagining. There are experiments that add another player to old games (like SMW and SM64) and they’re easy to get started, and kind of cool as a curiosity, but require extensive reworking of the games to get them functioning like you’d expect from a real game designed for two players.
I may, however, be adding turn-based multiplayer, like in Super Mario World.
    .
  7. Where do I find this secret exit/Koopaling/etc.?
I’ve released a few video guides over on youtube. If it’s something else, you could try asking in the comments section below, and maybe another user will be able to help.
    .
  8. Can you add new levels/enemies/powerups?
Probably no. The game is pretty much complete as is. I’ll be tweaking some things for version 2.1, and might add a few bonus modes, but there won’t be any major additions to the core game. (It’s not as simple as just adding art and code for a new enemy/powerup. I would also need to find a place for them in the game. And shoving them in retroactively yields mixed results at best.)
    .
  9. I found a glitch! What do I do?
You can let me know about it by commenting below, or using the contact form on this page. Twitter and Newgrounds private messages work too.
    .
  10. Can I do a Let’s Play of the game?
Yes. In fact, I encourage it. But I must ask that you give credit to the creators of the music used in the game. I can be as simple as giving a shout out to the Newgrounds Audio Portal in the video description, or you could do what I do and credit each song used in the video. A convenient list of the songs can be found here.
    .
  11. My save file is gone! What happened?
AKR2, like many flash games, uses .sol files to save your progress. Browsers routinely clear out temporary internet files, and in some cases this may include the .sol files. I’m afraid there’s not much you can do once the file is gone, but there are ways to prevent this from happening. You can back up your game as plain text using the in-game backup system. There are also standalone Flash players that work without a web browser that don’t have this problem.
    .
  12. Can the game be played in fullscreen?
Yes and no. Unfortunately I can’t enable fullscreen here because neither version of Flash I own can export it with that functionality. (Flash 8 is too old, and Animate CC doesn’t support ActionScript 2.0) But there are other methods. You can zoom in with your browser to get an almost fullscreen experience, or use a standalone Flash player with a downloaded version of the game.
    .
  13. Where can I get the latest info on A Koopa’s Revenge 2?
This tag will show you all the posts on Lambta.co related to A Koopa’s Revenge. You can also find some information on my Newgrounds page, and on the Lambta.co Games youtube channel.
.

If your file was erased and you have 107% completion, you can have my save. I recommend not using this to cheat yourself to the end.
